SMALL TEAM TRAINING TASK
D3A Defence conduct Small Team Training Tasks utilising a structured approach in conducting military or defence-related training exercises that focus on smaller groups. The core of these exercises is the enhancement of fundamental skills, including strategic decision-making, efficient and accurate communication, and fostering a strong sense of teamwork. These competencies are critical in maintaining operational effectiveness in real-world military situations.
REAL WORLD DEFENCE
The D3A model—Decide, Detect, Deliver, and Assess—serves as a backbone for these training tasks. “Decide” involves strategic planning, where teams are trained to make informed and critical decisions under pressure. The “Detect” phase encompasses identifying potential threats or objectives, honing observational skills, and enhancing situational awareness. In “Deliver”, the focus shifts to the execution of the plans, where teams are taught to effectively carry out the devised strategies, showcasing their tactical skills and adherence to plan.
The final “Assess” stage ensures that teams review and analyse the outcomes of their actions. It encourages self-evaluation and reflection, enabling them to learn from their successes and failures. This stage is key to continuous learning and improvement.
In simulating real-world defence situations, these training tasks not only aim to improve the individual skills of the members but also seek to enhance the overall team’s coordination and cooperation. By using the D3A model, they provide a practical, scenario-based approach that increases the team’s capacity to respond to dynamic and complex defence situations, ultimately leading to an improved level of operational effectiveness.
